I was always thin until I hit my
late thirties, and then the pounds started piling on. I guess
when you get comfortable in a relationship you tend to let yourself
go a little, at least that is what I did. I went from a young,
thin, happy woman to a 287- pound, size 24, miserable woman.
My marriage ended in divorce...read more.

Through my teenage years, I was
a healthy size but accomplished this by excessive working out
and starvation. Eventually, my weight started creeping up. This
led to many fad diet attempts over and over again I would fail
miserably. One day, I stepped on the scale and weighed 252 pounds.
I knew I needed to do something to change my life. Though most
people who knew me before the surgery would tell you that I
was full of life, smiled all day, and loved to laugh, inside
I was screaming for help and drowning in the weight...read

In the beginning of 2005, I found
it difficult to tie my shoes or retrieve an object on the floor.
At the end of a 12 hour shift at Odessa Regional Hospital, my
feet and legs were so swollen that I couldn't bend my knees.
I had pain in every part of my body.My blood pressure was very
high despite taking daily medication to treat it. My cholesterol
was 280. I also had gastric reflux and urinary stress incontinence.
I was so short of breath that I could barely walk through a
parking lot to my car. I was afraid the day when I would no
longer be able to work was coming soon...read

I weighed more than 220 pounds,
with a BMI over 40, and I wore a size 22/24. I dealt with the
following health problems: diabetes, knee pain, amenorrhea,
esophageal reflux, hip pain, hypertension, and urinary stress
incontinence. My health was slowly deteriorating - diabetes
and high blood pressure had crept up on me. My knees were hurting,
but I didn't realize it was from the extra weight. I thought
I had an injury and just needed knee surgery. I didn't want
to play with my small children because I was always tired...read

In 1992 I was diagnosed with ulcerative

I have been overweight ever since
I can remember. I tried every diet from the cabbage soup diet
to the Atkins diet to lose weight. I even tried a diet that
gave me night blindness, which has since improved, thank God.
I had several medical problems correlated with being overweight.
I had high blood pressure and hypothyroidism, and was on medication
for both. My blood sugar was high and I was almost to the point
of being put on medication for Type 2 Diabetes...read

I have been overweight since elementary
school. I cannot remember a day that went by when I was not
teased and made to cry. I never could understand other people's
reactions to my size. My struggle to lose weight was never ending.
I have tried everything from The Bohemian Shake Diet, to acupuncture,
Weight Watchers, and Nutri-System. I would lose 20 or 30 pounds,
plateau, get discouraged, and gain back every pound and more...read

In 1991, I married my high school
sweetheart, weighed 120 pounds, and wore a size 6 when I walked
down the aisle. Fifteen years later as we were about to celebrate
our 15th anniversary, I was horrified as the seat belt on the
plane barely fit around my waist. I'm not sure when my weight
got so out of control...read more.

Ever since I became pregnant with my first child, now 16years

I thought I had an excuse to overeat. But it didn't stop after
I gave birth. I tried everything: all kinds of diets, diet
pills, and Weight Watchers...read more.

I had a Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass
when I was 16 years old. I did not start to get "chubby" until
I was in kindergarten and at that time it was not a big issue.
By the time I was in second grade, I was bigger than most of
the kids in my class. I had really bad asthma and allergies...read
